Healthcare costs are astronomical as it is and we desperately need these accounts to help pay for huge medical expenses just to maintain health.

It is utterly insane to think about taxing HSAs and FSAs. Congress needs to stand up for the American people and protect our hard earned money from the Cadillac tax.

Why not give employees the option of making use of FSA/HSA plans if they can find the dollars to do so, allowing them to help pay for higher deductibles?

I love having the option of my FSA/HSA plans. They are both wonderful ways to help manage health care costs.

The Value of FSAs and HSAs to Small Businesses

It is imperative that Congress act to exclude these contributions from the Cadillac Tax so that as a small business owner, I can continue to make these accounts available as part of our benefits program!

I own a small business in Minnesota with 15 employees. For the past several years I have offered a high deductible health plan, along with HSAs and FSAs. Since the implementation of health care reform, our premiums have increased more than 100%! In an effort to maintain an affordable group health plan, I have continued to offer plans that provide coverage for catastrophic expenses (HDHP), but not first dollar coverage. To assist employees with paying certain out of pocket expenses, I offer my employees the opportunity to convert some of their hard earned payroll dollars into FSAs and HSAs. Over the years, these accounts have become VERY valuable to my employees! It is imperative that Congress act to exclude these contributions from the Cadillac Tax so that as a small business owner, I can continue to make these accounts available as part of our benefits program!

I am a father of five wonderful children. Every year I set aside the maximum amount allowable into my FSA account and every year we use the money before the year ends...often months before the year ends. Please protect our ability to have FSA accounts.

My HSA

I use my HSA to pay for these completely out of pocket expenses and would be worse off financially if I had to do so with after-tax dollars.

I have used pre-tax benefits in the past including FSAs and HSAs. I love my HSA and use this to offset my out of pocket expenses. I don't carry dental insurance as I have great teeth and only need my bi-annual cleanings which costs less than the insurance premiums. My company also doesn't offer vision insurance. I use my HSA to pay for these completely out of pocket expenses and would be worse off financially if I had to do so with after-tax dollars. In addition to dental and vision expenses, I can use my HSA to pay any medical costs as well. These accounts need to be protected from the Cadillac tax, and my health plan is truly nothing of the "Cadillac" sort.

I need my HSA to help with the high deductible my health plan has.

I need my HSA to help with the high deductible my health plan has. Unfortunately, in 2016 I may not be able to max out my HSA due to the high cost of my BCBS insurance plan. As a self employed insurance agent, I am paying more than my fair share of taxes and health insurance premiums. I have been considering shutting my doors and going out to find a job with Mayo Clinic or the likes, just so that I can get health insurance benefits. Something has to change.

Elimination of the plans due to the Cadillac Tax will have a detrimental impact on my family and to many individuals, companies and industries.

I utilize both the HSA and the FSA to support my family's middle class budget to support our out of pocket expenses. As a family of five we have exposure to typical expenses like Medical, Dental, Vision Co-pays, Co-Insurance and Deductibles as well as monthly Prescriptions.

Flex plan helps me afford my precription drugs

I am worried that the Cadillac tax will cause my employer to eliminate this valuable program...

I have a high deductible health plan and take several prescriptions for asthma and allergies all year long. My flex plan helps me budget for my expenses and allows me a tax deduction to help offset the cost of my ongoing medical expenses. Without my flex plan I would not get a tax break on my out of pocket medical expenses because the itemized deduction threshold is 10% of my income. I am worried that the Cadillac tax will cause my employer to eliminate this valuable program that helps me afford the care I need to manage my medical conditions. I urge Congress to carve out consumer directed accounts from the Cadillac tax calculation to ensure that working Americans like myself can continue to rely on these consumer accounts to help me afford my health care!
